After 6 months as an emergency nursing student I can tell you that there is lots of paperwork and studiing to do! As school starts monday in a week my e-mail account keeps spiting out e-mails with more and more preparationpapers and would be nice to know bevore you start to study! Ahrg, what do they think we are doing? Besides work and all the preparations there is hardly time to see friends or relax. But no time for crying, I will do it because it gives a lot of fun and new inputs and is worth all the hassle.
By the way, I did it! I finished the Berlin Marathon on september the 26th in amaizing 4:55:29!!!

Wow, it took just a volcano and some ashes to get the sky quiert! And all the airports busy with calming millions of travellers all around the world. Just the fakt makes me smile, but don`t think that I laugh about the travellers! No, in my mind I`m with them, envy them that they have holidays to travell and am sorry for them that they have to spend their holidays there instead of being on the road! For all Robert Pattinson fans here is the next big movie! Remember me, is a film that diggs deep into family and relationships and what happens to them after loosing a family member. Shown as a rebell and poet, drawn to the memory of his brother, who killed himselfe, he wanders around N.Y. city and hopes to find a solution to his problems and the problem his family has with the tragic loss. When he meets a girl, with similar grand problems he learns slowly to trust and love again. In the end, he manages to bring back his father into the familys life and living a real and true love. As I was watching the movie, I always thought about why it was named Remember me, this quetsion is answered only in the last 3 minutes of the movie, but this end makes such an impact that you will just want to scream "No!"
During the whole 2 hours I never had time or thought of comparing the character Robert Pattinson plays with Edwar Cullen from the Twiglight movies. What proofes, for me, that he is an amaizing actor and not just everybodies darling.

Last day

Monday will be my last day at work in the hospital in Winterthur. A farwell with a laughing and a crying eye. After 9 years working on the vessel and neurosurgery ward I will study emergency nursing in Aarau from thursday on. 2 years of hard work but also lots of great inputs for my layzy brain. I will miss my old colleagues but hope to meet lots of nice new ones. So keep your fingers crossed for me and happy easter to everyone!

Tonight I read an article in the german Magazin "Neon". Basicly it is about why we tend to find everything sweet and cute.

And here it comes: Only last year a bioligical resarcher, Melaine Glocker, discovered that our brain reacts in the reward system when we look at babies. The same region which is only active when we have sex, eat or consume drugs. So what does that say about us human beings? Are we perverts because our brain reacts like that or should we go and do/use the above mentioned more often to reward us? I like the idea of it and for all interested I can only recommend reading the full article, unfortunately it is only in german, on www.neon.de . Look for the march issue. And while you are alredy there, I love the "Unnützes Wissen" rubric. Did you know that Kim Yong, ruler of North Korea, has a waterslide in his backyard? ; )

1. August in Switzerland

Her in Switzerland the first of August is the national day. They celebrate with BBQ`s speeches and lots of fire works. And thats what keeps me from sleeping at the moment, so I thought I give an up date on my life. Firstly, I love my new flat. Living in my own 4 walls is much better then sharing nearly everything with others. And my fitnesslevel is getting a littel bit higher `cause I take the bike to get to work. Last week my parents came to visit and liked it, so now I have all thumbs up for my cosy littel place. Next week I finally meet Tell in Paris and we both head of to cross Europe in 4 weeks. I hope that I can give you more details on our way from the way. Enjoy the summer!

Summer, finally!

We have more than 25 degrees! Yipheeayeh! That means summer finally arrived here in Switzerland and I can get off my long and warm clothes and wear shorts, skirts and dresses! I just love it. And with the Toten Hosen concert on friday in Berlin, open air, "my" time of the year has started. Tomorrow I will go to the summer theather and watch "my friend Harvey" with Nadine. This has become a nice tradition over the last few years and we decided to go on with it. A nice dinner in town and then the play under a tentroof. Very relaxed and mostly funny. Also my holidays with Tell are getting closer, today I bought the last train tickets and we can get started without any more thoughts. I can`t belive that it is only 5 weeks until I see her again. One more thing: I bought 2 new jeans, 1 is one size smaller and the other one 1 and 1/2 size! ;) Thats all I`m saying about the result of my diet.

5 weeks in my new flat, moving to my new flat 1 week at home in Berlin and Kiel, house warming party, bad flu, moulding the lawn a couple of times, Sheryls christening, ...

This is in short what I did in the last couple of weeks. I love having lots of space just for me and a kitchen and bathroom that I don`t have to share. Nearly everything is ready and just a couple of small things need to be done. August is coming nearer and with it my holidays and Tell. I can`t wait to start our big road trip across Europe. Now I`m too tired to think about anything else, promise to post again earlyer! :)

Last weekend Yannick slept, the first time in his live, without his parents and somewhere else than home. He stayed with me the whole weekend! We went to town to buy a buggy and super special Crocs, visited susannes farm and the Bruderholz Wildlife Park here in Winterthur. We had great fun and it was good to heve him around for more than just some hours.

Last week I also got the contract for the flat I applyed for and am planning the moving. The big day will be the 11th and 12th of may, so pretty soon.

This weekend I spend with buying a vacuum cleaner and a telephone, looking at tables and sideboards, probably getting a speeding ticket in SH and wondering why Lilly has a flat tire. Funny thing is, I can`t see anything but the board computer is screaming at me everytime I start the engine. So I will take her to the doc tomorrow and hope that it won`t be so pricey.

With some magazines and a cup of fruitsalad/ice cream I sat the rest of the day near the pool where from nowhere a male duck landet and made himselfe home. When I left the pool none than the duck was left. He probably likes the rotting leaves and the quiert atmosphere. ;)

As you can see some things happened since february. Firstly I went to the Fastnacht with Aline, Mela, Martin and Chrigi. The girls as fairies and Martin as devil. What a funny and cold night. We made our costumes ourselfe and really loved them. What do you think?

Secondly I went sowboarding with the family in Saas Grund and steped on the board after 3 years abstinence. And after some disagrements between the board and me we found an agreement. If the board thakes me safely down, I will carry it up again. ;)

And last but not least, on march the 22nd my second godchild, Sheryl was born in Schaffhausen. The proud parents Karin and Chris are my best friends and are already home with the little sunshine.

And a note beside: I might get a great flat in may!

This great adaption of the first book of the Bella & Edward saga is absolutly worth seeing and I enjoyed every single second of it. Nowing the end already didn`t made it boring and the blossom of true love that hatches between the 2 main characters is played so animated and passionfull that it nearly feels like being in the story. For sll those how have not read the books already: Go! Buy! Read! And don`t stop before you finish the last book, even if you will not want to.

A cow named Ellen-Jenny is named after me! Maybe you ask: How `come? This is how! Our secretaries husband had an accident with his tractor about 8 weeks ago. With some broken bones he was rushed to the hospital and ended up to stay on our ward where I had to take care of him for a few days. This was fun because we know eachother from some visits on theire farm. and he is a funny guy and a born farmer. After I made a quite possible dangerous mistake one day I was down in tears and told him how sorry I was. His reaction a day later was to ask his wife to name a new born cow after me. First I had to make sure if this was a meat or milk cow, ergo a butcher cow or a long happy life cow, ergo a nice way to say that he didn`t liked me anymore or if he wanted to cheer me up. It was the last and so I had another problem, they name theire cows in alphabetical order and were at "E". So I thought and thought about a nice combination for my name and came up with Ellen- Jenny! After being godmother to Yannick and Karins unborn child I am know officially godmother to a cow! *brightsmileandtwinkel*

lost in Thailand

One of my best friends, Mela, went on holiday 3 weeks ago. Guess where! Sure, Thailand. And today she should have been back with a flight from Bangkok via Dubai. Unfortunately she and her boyfriend are two of the more than 3 thousand travellers stranded at the airport and in Bangkok. Now we wait for news how they get home. The last text stated that they take a bus to Phuket ( isn`t this an island? So how the f***ing hell does the bus go there?) and fly to Kualalumpur friday night. There they can find and book a flight to Dubai/ Zurich and hopefully arrive safely back here in Switzerkand by saturday or sunday. Please everyone, keep your fingers crossed for them and all the others out there!

... until christmas!!!! The last weekend, which I spend in Munich, prepared me for the upcoming pre christmas time. Christmas markets, Santas, rosted almonds, freezing cold weather with nice sunshine.... And today I put up my decorations and lights and started the cookie baking marathon. Tomorrow I should be finished and maybe overeaten with cookies. But so what? It`s christmas! Whis you all a very merry christmas !!!

My birthday was always a bit scary! Not that the celebration itselfe is in any way scary but there are so many strange holy days around that every couple of years my birthday colides with the Penance Day, Remembrance Day or Sunday in Commemoration of the Dead. But to get it straight, I love my birthday! And presents and surprises and everything but this year the surprise was way to strange. The EU or UNO or someone I can`t really remember decided to make November the 19th into: World Toilett DAY!!!!! Basicly this is a good idea, `cause they want to draw attention to the people who don`t have a toilett or conection to any kind of toilett system. People should think of theire priority status and that soem do not have acces to such basic needs. All very good and understandable, but why my birthday? After all those sad holy days I already have to cope with on my birthday? Arghhh! I want them to change it back and give me alittle bit of a normal day on November the 19th!

...it feels liek that at least! I`ve been on a 7 day turn and after 1 1/2 days off on a 6 day turn now. So it does feel like working all the time. But next week I will go home for 3 days, before my next nightshifts, and relax at my parents house. And in the blink of an eye it will be christmas and next year and all that. I still have t figure out what to do with my holidays and plan them for next year. Australia is defenetly on the list but when and how long and all that, I have only 4 weeks and maybe one or two unpaid weeks for the whole year! Any suggestions are welcome! Just a little depressed, I know! ;)

Kartause Ittingen and Brauhaus Frauenfeld

Today I met my grandma and my aunt for lunch and a stroll around the Kartause Ittingen. When they picked me up I figured out that I hadn`t seen my granny for more than 2 years!!! But she is still the same nice lady and fit and very funny. First we went to Frauenfeld to eat at the Brauhaus. Nice autum food, with mushrooms and herbs, red gabbage and Spätzli. Mmmmhhh, yummy. After a short car ride we had a look at the little chappel at the Kartause and walked along the herb garden before stoping for a nice cup of coffee and tea in the tearoom. Even the cold didn`t got to bad on us. Just a great afternoon!

From today on my little sister is officially a STUDENT! She moved to Kiel and will live in a 8 squaremeter room for the next semester or until she finds a better place. ;) That means that our parents are on theier own from now on and all 3 of us are now only occasional visitors at Hibiskusweg 8B. But I`m sure they will cope and do very well with their new found SFB (Sturm freie Bude/ storm free home- German saying when you have the house for your own). I just saw some pictures and she will have to do a lot of decoration and hard thinking to get the room into a home. For me that means that I will not see her when I`m in Berlin in November. But for new year we both will be home and hopefully enjoy the new year in one of our favourite cities. From my side there is not much new to tell. Only that I will start the next Cambridge level by the 7th of January and finally get to take another exam in December 2009. This will keep me on track to not loose all my English skills and knowledge and you never know what it might be good for. So, when you meet an Australian, cute, single and willing to marry me......

Wall.E and Alpenrock

Wow, yesterday was definitly an eventfull day! First I had to organize some stuff for a farwell party next week. Later in the afternoon the cinemascreen brought Wall.E to me, Mela, her boyfriend and her brother. What a cute movie, such a loving robot, I never saw something like that before. Even if the movie works with less dialogues then any film I watched before, there is nothing missing. Plot: Wall.E is the last robot to clean up on erath after the humans left the polluted world in a gigantic space-cruise-ship. With his little friend the cockroach, he presses garbage into cubicles and buildes skyscrapers out of them. One fine day a new and shiny spaceship lands and leaves a white blinking observing robot with a secret mission. How it comes that they both save the world and humanship, you can see in the movies.

For the evening I had planed to go to either a village fair with Karin and Chris or to a commercial exhibition and fair with Matt, but, as life normally goes, it comes different from what you have planed. So both had to abadone me for some reasons and I was left to my DVD collection. That was the moment when Mela stepped in. "Why don`t you come to the Alprock with us?", mhh, because I can`t dance, got nothing to wear, and, and, and!?! Ok, in the end I went with them and had a faboulus night. The music was a nice mixture and the crowd was casual and not snobby like in the clubs in Winterthur. It even made me dance, or what I think dancing is. ;) Just great, we had lots of fun and ended up to have some food at Mc Donalds at 4.30am in Winterthur before heading totally exausted to bed. Thanks guys for a great day.

And last night I spend hours with Anita in the Wagamama restaurant in Winterthur. Even when they started cleaning we still talked and laught and throw glasses around the table. Luckily they were already empty! This was a special night as Anita and me are hard to get togehter. We both are always busy and work a lot, so we had to plan this meeting for a wile and dismiss some dates before we finally got togehter. I enjoyed every single second of it and the nice Japanes food.

Last Saturday it was time to celebrate Karins and Chrises wedding. As they got married in secret last October, they promised everyone a big summer party to make up for all the lost hen nights. After a lot of preparing and organising we started at 10 am with sausages on the barbie and lots of beer and drinks for everyone. The weather was hot and sunny and so the garden was the place to be. Some came together near the beer bar and some next to the shadowy trees... ;) After hours of greeting guests, eating sausages and fruit cakes, salat and drinking what ever you liked, it was a relief to take of the high heel sandals and slip into my thongs again. We had a lot of fun with friends from work and lots of new people from Karins and Chrises background and families. It was a relaxed party and worth more than all the time and energy we actually put into it to prepare. What a Saturday!

Next week will be a hard and full one! Beside working I will be babysitting on Wednesday, searching for a birthday present for Anette on Tuesday, preparing surprises for Karin and Chrises post wedding party on Monday, preparing the party on Friday and Saturday and having the party on Saturday until open end!!! F***ing needles

One thing nurses hate most are needles! Especially when they thend to puncture the nurses finger after they were used to give a patient an injection before. Mostly the needles try to pric you when the end of your shift is near or when the last thing you have to do is give some Insulin last thing before you go home. Naturally this happens to all of us, but why me? And why today? And why this year? There are probably no or Million answers to this question, never the right one. Being angry with myselfe, I will go to bed right now.

Family, family, family

This weekend was reserved for my family! We met in Saas Grund and spent 2 days in the hoilday home of my sister in laws family. We hiked and climbed, we relaxed and Monsterbiked, we took pictures and collected mushrooms. In Saas Grund we visited the village fair and in the evening I hoppedin the Postauto and went back. It was an exausting but great weekend with great views!

Last Friday I got my CAE result via internet: B!!!!!! That means that I can speak and write and read and use English! Now that it is proofen it feels a bit more relaxed than after not passing the IELTS. Even if it doesn`t make a difference for the nursing agency. I`m happy.

Working!!! Like always. But on Monday I will watch "Keinohrhasen" in the open air cinema with nearly half of our staff. Also I will go for a run with Mela and try to motivate myselfe to go 3 times a week instead of 2 times. Ah, and my parents and sisters will stop by for lunch. So, some nice events on just one day!

By the way, only one week until I get my Cambridge result, even if it doesn`t change anything, it will prove what I`m capable of.

Back from Locarno and Lenny Cravitz

Sunshine, rain, swimming, walking, shopping, BBQ, Pizza, Pasta, warmth and a tent like a castle, what do I need more? Nothing!!! Just came back from my 3 day trip to the Tessin, which is the Italian part of Switzerland. With Karin I went to the Lago Maggiore to see Lenny Cravitz in concert. After we found a camp ground and errected our tent we started to explore the town of Tenero and Locarno. With rented bikes we made our way along the lake where we found a nice little restaurant for a snack and some ice cream. Yummy, I would have eaten much more "Gelati" if my trousers wouldn`t remind me of my weigth. To make up for it we took the bikes every day to Locarno and did some walking in and around Locarno. What a wonderfull town! I could have spent some more time and will probably go again next summer. Who wants to come with me?

Last Friday my little sister graduated after 13 years of hard school. To celebrate this day it is common to have a huge prom with all garduates and families. Ours was held in the Estrel hotel in Berlin and the 200 graduates danced until 4.30am the next morning. As I was toled it was a great event for all. And my little sister and her friend Annmarie looked stunning in theire dresses.

Ok, there is no way for me to emigrate to Australia! I will stay in Switzerland and start to life again (and plan my next holidays in Australia ;) ). Someone must have another plan than me and wants me to stay here in Europe. Ok then, hopefully the man of my dreams is involved and lots of holidays in Australia. Thank you to everyone who stand behind my decision in the last 2 years.

IELTS result

I`ve done it! 7.5 points in writing BUT: only 6.5 in speaking which is due to being extremly nervous and getting more and more nervous each time I take the test. So, what to do?!?

I will giv it a try and call the nursing agency on monday, `cause they already have more than one result form with more than 7 points in speaking from me. It is a try and will be the last thing I can do. Redoing the test is not an option, I would mess it up even more. So no stress, but a last try.

A day with Yannick and my new camera

Yesterday I went to Aarau to babysitt my little godson and go to the Badi afterwards. We both had a lot of fun and enjoyed the sun and a nice "talk" in the Starbucks Café. Later, in the Badi, we tried some features of my new camera which is waterproof up to 3 meters and schock resistent up to 1.5 meters. I put a pic in here to show you the results! Like my big brother, little Yannick is a waterrat at its best, if it is not for hunger, you can`t get him out of the water. By the way, my brother has changed in that point, there are much more reasons to get him out of the water now! :)

Unfortunately my computer refused to accept all the pictures from my card, so I lost the best ones! :(( But there will be more, I promise.

The test itselfe was good and I`m pretty sure that the listening and reading is a full success. For the writing part I do not want to make any predictions, but it didn`t feelt to bad. Last IELTS

Tomorrow is the day of my last and final IELTS. I worked hard to improve my writing and feel confident about my speaking and listening and reading skills. With the support from Karin, who will drive me and be with me, everything should be ok. We will see in 2 weeks when I get the result, anyway, if it does not work out the way I want, I will start planning my next holiday in Australia!

On Friday , my plan is to do some listening practice for my IELTS on Saturday. During the week I do not have the chance to speak, but at the moment I am not afraid . This week it is the final good bye week to Adelaide! After sitting the CAE exam on wednesday and a lot of singing in a Karaoke Box we said good bye for a last time to our class mates and are preparing for the way home. For me that meant to send 6 kilogramms of schoolpapers back home for only 140.00 Australian Dollar and starting to sort out what I will leave here and what to take home. So there is only the packing left for tomorrow and the Indian dinner with Tell, Kerry and Pat. Saturday morning it is off we go......

Celebrating the speaking exam! Prost!

As you can see we had a lot of fun and food in Hahndorf. Even if we do not know the results yet ( middle of August), we can still celebrate. And let the Aussies make fun of us. This is the story: Our lovely teacher mentioned once that she had never got a telegramm, so we thought it would be nice to send her one from Hahndorf. But when I asked in the post office the guy behind the counter just smiled and said that they had just got rid of the "Pony Express" last week! Hahaha. Funny guy, so we couldn`t do that and had to drink a bit more to make up for it.

We finished school, said good bye to our lovely teachers and had our last Lunch Club lunch! We also and more importantly did the speaking part of the exam and have only wednesday to go for the rest of the Cambridge exam. So keep your fingers crossed on wednesday. Unfortunately that means also that the end is coming closer again, but we can`t change that.

Thats what is left of my 3 months in Adelaide!!!! In only 2 weeks and 4 and a half day I have to leafe and in exactly 3 weeks I am back to work. Unbeliveable. In front of me are 2 weeks of school and 2 hard exame days, befor I can relax for a couple of days and then enter my plane back to Europe. See you all then ! Take care.

Kangaroo Island Adventure Tour

Ok, where to start? Maybe with the weather which promised to be really, really wet and windy and cold! BUT: when angels travel, the weather is always fine! It was a rocky ferry ride eventhough it was not to bad. The rain stayed in the clouds when we were outside and poured down when we were driving to the next attraction KI had to offer. Which are: the Eucalyptus Destillery, Seal Bay, little Sahara, Koala walk, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, more seals, Flinders Chases National Park, Snake Lagoon Walk, beaches, farmstay, bush walks, and, and, and....
What we saw was not all, but so beautiful and amaizing that I could have stayed a week longer without repeating anything. To give you an idea of what I`m talking about, here are the pictures:

This week is finally over! After a boring and exausting week at school, I still learned some things, the weekend has finally arrived. Unfortunatel it arrived with pouring rain and cold and all that on my Kangaroo Island weekend. But there is only bad cloths, no bad weater, right?!? I will try to make the best of it and tell you on Monday what it was like. For now bye and have a good weekend everyone!

Farm Weekend

This weekend was, again, a farm weekend. We went up to Bute on Friday night and did a bit of sheep feeding, Pine tree planting and car riding. On Saturday afternoon we went to Wallaroo to watch the Bute footyteam destroy the Wallaroo team with a difference of 25!!!! goals. In the break we practised a bit of footy ourselfes and talked to Tells friends from school. After a nice dinner at a pub in Kadina we had a "baby" bonefire back at the farm with Col. After a couple of drinks and a bit of practising in damper making we went to bed late. After a short night we came back to town and enjoyed ourselfes, homework and a warm afternoon at the beach.

Is the place to be in Adelaide, according to my friend Tell. This country style club in the heart of Adelaide provides the youth from the little towns around with a nice spot to go to and feel like home. The music is influenced by the country feeling, without realy being country music. You can ride the Bull, drink Bundaberg or beer and dance on a, former, rotating dance floor. With metal sheets, that would build a nice shed back on the farms, the walls create a nice homy feeling.

77% is the result of my mock exam! Igot it back today and was pretty surprised to be that high, but pleased. As they promised us an increase of 20% until the end of the course, I should be able to hit the 80%. That would give me a B pass which is like a Swiss 5 or a German 2. So, stay with me and you will see what my English course helds for me.

Half way through

Today I am half way through my course and my stay in Australia! Only 6 1/2 weeks to go. Today we had our mock exame wich should give us an idea on how good we are and if we are able to pass the CAE test with more than 60%. Unfortunately that is not enough for my plans so I still have to sit the IELTS in june. I have already recieved a confirmation for my place in this test so a week after my return to Winterthur I have to go to Bern and do it again. This time Karin promissed to come with me and give me some mental support. When I get my mock result I will tell you in this nice little place.

Victor Harbor

On Friday we headed off to Victor Harbor and an overnigthstay at the local camping ground. We had a look around and climbed Buffs Head, walked to Granite Island and played a game of minigolf. After a stroll to the island at night to watch the penguins we had a nice Italian dinner back in Victor. Unfortunately the penguintour was overfilled and they refused to squezz us in to make us happy. So we saw just the signs preparing the walkers to be aware of the little animals. On one of the cliffs we saw something that looked like a penguin, trying to commit suicide. We thought so because the little one was siting up there at a high of aproxamatly 10 meters, far from the water. On the other hand it could have been a pigeon. ;))

As you see, another nice weekend, even if it was cold and rainy and the winter is defenately coming.

Beach, Beach, Beach

Today I spend at the beach on Henley Beach and Glenelg Beach. I ate ice cream, rode my bike and read my book. What else do you need for a nice day? Maybe a chat withe a friendly guy who just wanted to know how I liked my book! Great, thats what happens in Australia.

Yesterday I wittnest my first first league Footy game! Adelaide Crows versus Freo. What a fun we had. Even if they had a bad last quater, they won the game and the crowed was singing. Maybe I will be able to see an other one before june.

After an exhausting week at school, Tell took me back to the farm last friday. We had a nice roast, made by Jude, and went to bed late. On saturday we woke up and went out on the farm in our pj`s to have a look what Col was doing and give him a hand to measure the distances between the, have to be planted, trees. ;)) Later that day we watched a farm footy game of Tells brother and a lot of other relatives and friends. That was funny because we actually drove to the oval and parked in the second row to watch from the car. It was a meet and greet of all Tells family and friends and so there was someone to talk to every time. The Bute team won the game and we went for dinner to the Maitland "Hotel". It was great fun and we started late to go back to town and head out for some clubbing. First stop was the Elephant and after the Swift refused to let me in with my drivers licence, we ended up at the Woolshed. The place to be for cowboys and want to be cowboys. We arrived back home at 4.30 am and fall asleep instantly. On sunday Mads took me and Mirijam to Mt. Lofty and Hahnendorf and we had a nice littel piece of Bienenstich! Yummy!

On monday it was hard to get back to school, but we managed! Have fun and take care everyone.

Dolphine Cruise

This was my last sunday!

After an early start at 6.20 am, to catch a taxi at 6.50am, I entered the Temptation Cruise vessel at 7.45 am to see the dolphines. Withe me were 3 other girls from the SACE. We had booked the tour together and were amaized about the sight of the catamaran. After a short briefing for the ones that wanted to swim with the dolphines, we headed into the ocean.

Even if it was warm in the port, as soon as we set out it colled down quickly with the wind. Lucky me had a windbreaker and got warm quite soon again. After just 20 minutes we saw the first couple of dolphines and had a chance to take some pictures. The ones we saw were bottlenose dolphines and are normaly the ones we see on tv, like Flipper.

This one came close to the vessel and gave me the chance to get some good pictures of him before he went of to swim ahead of us. Even if we didn`t saw a lot we still saw them close and that made the whole trip worth the money we paid. So if you want to see those lovely creatures I strongly recommend the Temptation Sail!

Jetzt hab ich länger nichts von mir hören lassen, aber zum Glück wird man ja daran erinnert das man sich mal melden muss. Also, neben der Schule bleibt leider nicht wahnsinnig viel Zeit um wirklich tolle Sachen zu machen. Aber letzten Freitag war ich mit Tell zum Football! Lasst euch sagen das nicht nur der Ball anders ist! Da ist aber zuerst der Ball der nicht rund sondern eierförmig ist. Dann ist das Spielfeld oval und nicht eckig. Es sind, glaub ich, mehr Spieler als beim Fussball. Das Tor ist durch 4 lange Stecken ersetzt, 2 weisse ganz, ganz lange und 2 rote die jeweils rechts und links vom weissen stehen. Das Ei muss durch die weissen Stecken um 3 Punkte und ein Tor zu haben, wenn er zwischen rotem und weissem Stecken durchfliegt gibt es 1 Punkt, aber kein Tor. Man spielt recht Mann gegen Mann, darf aber nicht richtig doll faulen! Also kein Hose runterziehen. Der Spieler darf den "Ball" frü 5 Schritte festhalten, dann muss er ihn werfen, schiessen oder dribbeln. Ziemlich interessante Sache, und "natürlich" supporten wir die Adelaide Crows! Wer euch auf dem laufenden halten ob wir weiter gewinnen! ;))

Am Samstag war ich dann im Zoo ein paar Tiere anschauen. Das coolste war das Pelikan feeding. Die haben den Zoowärter so dolle ins Bein gebissen das er geblutet hat, de rarme. Die waren ganz schön hungrig. Ich häng euch noch ein Bild an, aber an den Berliner Tierpark kommt der Zoo natürlich nicht heran. Grüse von hier unten!

Easter at the beach

This easter I spend at the beach with Tell and some of her family. On Thursday evening we went to Bute, Tells home, to stay overnight. Easterfriday we then headed to Corny Point to meet the folks. They have rented a cabin just a 5 minutes walk from the beach. We spent the days driving around the area and visiting beach after beach. We went swimming and surfing and also watched a kangaroo in a caravan park. It was a relaxing and enjoyalble weekend that was toped with lots of cards games and great food. Thats what a holiday should be like!

... is over now!!!!! Let`s celebrate! We also got our results on the placement test and I got an overallscore of 69% ( needed were 40%). So I defenately had a good start, even if we get homework after homework. But easter is ahead an Tell and I will go to a beach house with her family and stay in the sun for the whole weekend. Back to school on tuesday. But I don`t want to think about it now. My classmates are realy nice and we plan to head to the cinema next week together. This week I skiped my sportsprmisses to get aclimatisized, but on monday therre is no excuse left. Whis you all a happy, happy easter!

First day at school

Today I went to school for the first time of my stay here in Adelaide. As it will be easter at the end of the week, there will be only 4 days to go. BUT: We have to sit a placement test each single day! Today we did the reading part and I think I didn`t did very well. After all we need at least 40% to get enrolled for the CAE course and the CAE Exame in 12 weeks. Also today I tried to enlist for the IELTS on may the 31st. Unforunately the spaces are filled and I will have to do it in Bern again or, if I can find out how to pay, I could fly to Melbourne and do it there on may the 31st. Haven`t jet decided what to do, but keep you informed!

Just a short excurse about the weather: 37 degrees, with a cold side coming and temperatures dropping to cold 31 degrees tomorrow. What a pitty, I love the sun and the heat. On easter weekend it will be fine with temperatures around 30 degrees, anyone jealouse? Hope you all will have a nice week and a funny easter weekend.

How to shrink your Crocs

As some of you know, I had to "kill" a littel bazillusfriend over the last week. To clean my Crocs I put them, like everything else, in the washing mashine and the dryer. Maybe 60 degrees are to hot for them, `cause now they are at least 1 size smaller!

... only 2 weeks until I`m leaving on a jetplane! Thursday in 2 weeks, march the 13th, I will take my bags and fly to Adelaide. For the next 3 months I will be back on the school bench and learn english, english, english! End of may the next IELTS is waiting and hopefully some days relaxing on Kangaroos Island or visiting Perth and the Cadosch family. Please keep your fingers crossed for me , even if it is the don`t know how often time! :))

Here in Switzerland spring is coming with temperatures around 15 degrees and sunshine. So it is easy to convince myselfe to go for jogging twice a week and to the gym !

So, I will be a littel bit fitter before I leave and that I hope I can keep on going with it while in Australia. So, don`t be upset, I will be back in june!

Carneval in Rio, äh Winterthur

Am Samstag war ich mit Mela und Konsorten in Winti zum Guggenumzug! Neben einigen sehr guten, aber auch schrägen Tönen konnten wir uns den Abend mit einer Konfettischlacht versüssen. Wie jedes Jahr waren die Kostüme sehr einfallsreich und meist sehr farbenfroh. Am meisten gefallen haben mir die Schmetterlinge von Melas Lieblingsband. Hier ein kleiner Fotobeweis für den Einfallsreichtum der Guggen! Ach, hat schon mal jemand Konfetti am ganzen Körper gehabt? Das........!!!!

Yesterday morning I heard on the news that Heath Ledger is dead! First thing in the morning! As SWR3 normaly doesn`t joke about things like that, it had to be true. Since then the news and the net were full of news and pictures, clips and comments about this young australian actor. I think it is a sad thing, `cause I liked his movies and his way to act in the blue press. He will always be remembert in his movies and his littel daughter Matilda, from whoms mom he seperated last autum. Until the cause of death is given by the police I do not want to guess about it, but it is, for me, unbelivebel that he succeede suicide.

Nach einer Woche Nachtdienst freue ich mich jetzt auf 2 Tage frei und einen Besuch bei meinem kleinen Patenkind. Laut seinen Eltern ist es ja ein wenig moppeliger geworden und ich bin gespannt was er sonst noch neues kann. Leider wartet auch das Putzen meines Zimmers auf mich, überfällig! Aber ich werde wohl auch das überstehen. ;))

.... jetzt hatte ich ein paar Tage meine Eltern zu besuch, konnte meinen Patensohn wickeln und knuddeln, hab ein super Musical gesehen und heute dann noch ein leckeres Abendessen beim Italiener mit super Begleitung genossen.

Gestern sind meine Eltern und Kati wieder zurück nach Berlin geflogen und ich hab meine schmale Bude wieder für mich allein. Auch wenn es schön war abends noch bis in die Puppen zu quatschen und Karten zu spielen, ist es doch auch schön grad schlafen gehen zu können. Am Donnerstag haben wir uns aber zuersteinmal "Ewigi Liebi" angesehen. Ein mitreissendes Musical rund um die Liebe. Eingebettet in schweizer Top Ten Hits und garniert mit mega komischen, schwulen Murmelis. Zum schreien komisch. Auch die 3 "Nichtschweizer" hatten ihren Spass und so wurde es ein vergnüglicher Abend mit Karin, Chris, Matthias Eltern und meiner Sippschaft.

Nach zwei ermüdenden Frühdiensten, die wie immer viel zu früh anfingen, hat mich Matthias heute zum Abendessen eingeladen und wir haben neben dem Essen 2 Stunden lang geredet und geredet. Entspannend, interessant und lustig wie jedes mal. Mercie!

Jetzt werd ich mal 2 Tage lang ausspannen und mich um meinen IELTS in Adelaide kümmern.

Parents visit

When I came back from Berlin on january the 4th, I had my parents and my little sister in the suitecase! Since then we spent our time between sightseeing in Zürich and Winterthur and visits to Gränichen to see little Yannick and his parents. On monday we went to ZH and enjoyed the upcoming sun in the Niederdörfli. At the old colonial shop we had scones and a nice cup of coffee, before we went on to find jelly bears and lovely kitchen stuff. Today they will visit the Fotomuseum in Winti and head to Schaffhausen for a stroll in the old town. I will go to work and do my bit..... Tomorrow we will see the "Ewigi Liebi" musical in ZH, a swiss-german musical about Heidi, Peter and love. I hope my family will be able to understand most of it, otherwise I will have to translate for them. What we plan for friday and saturday? I don`t know yet, but keep you up dated.

Kinofilme aus dem deutschen Raum lassen ja meist zu wünschen übrig! Ganz und garnicht dazu gehört dieser ausnahmslos lustige und romantische Till Schweiger Film. Wie auch bei One Way übernahm Till nicht nur die Hauptrolle sondern auch die Regie. Heraus gekommen ist ein wahnsinnig lustiger, romantischer und hintersinniger Film. Man wird nicht nur mit verschiedenen Nackt und Nahaufnahmen des "rrrrrr" Körpers von Till Schweiger verwöhnt, sondern man lernt noch einiges an zwischenmenschlichem dazu. Ein Kinobesuch lohnt sich in jedem Fall und wird von herzhaften Lachern und stillem Schmunzeln begleitet werden.

Plot: Ludo und sein Fotograf sind immer auf der Suche nach dem letzten Skandälchen und Foto das sich im "Blatt" gut vermarkten lässt. Nebenbei abfallende One night Stands werden natürlich gern in Kauf genommen. Bis Ludo eines Abends halb nackt auf dem Tisch seines Klatschopfers landet und zu gemeinnütziger Arbeit verurteilt wird, läuft auch alles gut. Im Kindergarten trifft er auf eine Jugendbekanntschaft die ihm nicht nur die Vergangenheit um die Ohren haut, sondern auch die Gegenwart ganz schön schwer macht. Wie die Keinohrhasen ins Spiel kommen und ob Ludo je sein Leben ändern wird.... Seht selbst!

... gemäss diesem Motto hab ich schon seit einiger Zeit mit Susanne abgemacht gehabt, sie und ihre Twins mal wieder zu besuchen! Letzte Woche bot sich endlich eine Gedächtnisfülle an um diesem Versprechen eine Terminabsprache folgen zu lassen. Heut war es nun soweit und ich bin pünktlich zur Raubtierfütterung, entschuldigung, Breivergabe bei ihnen eingetroffen. Was sind sie doch gross geworden! Und so herzig, zwei richtig knuddelige Jungs, die bereits aufstehen können und es dann doch noch nicht ganz schaffen los zu laufen. Auf dem glücklicherweise aalglatten Parkett der Fischers kommt man aber auch auf allen vieren so gut vorran..... Mir blieb trotzdem viel Zeit mit Susanne die letzten News von Station und Klatsch und Tratsch auszutauschen. Es war einfach ein sehr schöner Mittag/ Nachmittag bei Fischers.

Etwas schneller im Versprechen einlösen sind die Ärzte! Wie am 5. Dezember im Hallenstadion versprochen gab es heute die aktuelle CD kostenlos zum runterladen auf ihrer Website! Zu verdanken haben wir das allen schweizer Wählern die Herrn Blocher in den Ruhestand geschickt haben. Mercie! Leider dürfen nur wahlberechtigte und wohnhafte Schweizer dieses Privileg nutzen. :((

Der Goldene Kompass

Am Samstag hab ich ihn also gesehen. Auch wenn ich das Buch erst heute beende, hab ich mich überzeugen lassen und es nicht bereut. Grossartige Animationen und Landschaften und Schauspieler die den Film mehr als sehenswert machen. Wenn auch der Plot sehr variiert wurde ( Reihenflolge, Informationsfluss, Geschehen), ist der Film eine gute Adaption und wert des sehens. Lyra wächst in einem Kollege auf das in einer Parallelwelt liegt. Durch verschiedene Umstände verschlägt es sie in den Norden mitsamt ihrem Daemon Pantalaimon. Dort erleben sie erstaunliches und unglaubliches bis sie am Ende von einem Eisbär, einer Hexe und einem Aeronauten gerettet wird und zum zweiten Teil des Filmes aufbricht. Wann dieser gedreht wird und veröffentlicht wird? Keine Ahnung! Aber sicher bald.

On saturday Mela invited me for a quite night out after my late shift! The plan was to watch the " Golden Kompass" and have a drink afterwards. Invited were her brother and me, so there would be 3 of us. When I arrived at the Kiwi cinema there was a bunch of men and in the middel was Mela shouting: Follow me company!. So you can imagine how shocked I was. But I soon found out that they are really nice and after the movie we went for cocktails to the Aquarius Lounge. With lots of laughters and dirty jokes we were thrown out of the bar at around 3am.

When I arrived at home, I recognized that I had known one of the guys from Melas birthday party! Great name and face memory, right? ;))

Thanks for a great night out guys! And a smell like an ashtray the next morning.

Kangaroo Island on fire

As you all know I`m a big fan of Australia, the land down under! As it happend, I never had the chance to visit Kangaroo Island to see all the littel creatures that live there and the great nature. A week ago the first messages of Kangaroo Island on fire reached me via TV. In the Australian press I found more and more informations about the huge destruction on the island. Today they asked the inhabitans of some endangered areas to leave for their own security. Until now there was one death man found, lets hope he will be the only one.

My planns to visit Kangaroo Island on my next trip to Adelaide might be splashed, but I will see what it is like when I`m there. On "Adelaide Now" you can keep yourselfe updated.

Es wird eng- die Ärzte live in Zürich

Am Mittwoch war es endlich soweit, die Ärzte waren live in Zürich- aus Berlin!!!!! Und ich war dabei! Mit Mela, Sonja und Gaby habe ich dieses Highlight des Punkrock genossen und bestaunt.

Nach einer neuseeländischen Vorband startetn Farin, Bella und Rod hinter einem riesiegen Vorhang mit dem typischen Ä mit drei Punkten. Nach dem der Vorhang gefallen war legten die drei Berliner richtig los und boten Unterhaltung in bester Punkrockmanier. Neben vielen neuen Lieder von ihrer aktuellen Platte ( Jazz ist anders), gab es Klassiker wie Arschloch und Westerland. Dieses dichteten sie kurzerhand um und plötzlich sass man am Zürisee und sprang in die Limmat, statt in die Spree. Wirklich gut hat mir den neue Song " Du bist immer dann am besten, wenns dir eigentlich egal ist". Auch die vielen Anspielungen auf die schweizer Politik kamen gut an und begeisterten jung wie alt im Publikum. Es war eh eine sehr breit gefächerte Altersmischung, und so war bei jedem Lied eine breite Mitsingfront vertreten. Das Unterhaltungsprogramm der Ärzte ging sogar soweit das sie eine La Ola Welle ohne Arme starteten und das im dunkeln! Affengeil. Mega toll und einfach sau gut!

Von Anfang bis Ende ein Konzert das begeisterte! Von Bellas rosa Anzug bis zu der Aussage das man in der Schweiz die Ärzte CD`s geschenkt bekäme, wenn man dafür Bundesrat Blocher abwähle.

Für mich: Jederzeit wieder!

Yeasterday I went to the cinema again and saw "American Gangster" with Denzel Washington and Russel Crow.
The movie tells a true story about the first black mafia boss of New York. He smuggles drugs from Vietnam to the States in soldier coffins. With the brutal, real story the movie tells what the history behind the mafia is like. Drugs, weapons, crime, murder and loyalty at its best.
This fascinating story is broad to the screen by some of the best actors, Hollywood has.
Only why it is restricted for under 18th I can`t understand.

Jenny recomend points: 6 out of 6 for action and eagerness.

Last night I`ve been to the cinema with Matthias. The movie, chosen by Matt, was not what I expected from a Ben Stiller movie!
The plot: A man (40) is driven into a marriage by his sexaddicted father and his unlucky married friend. During his honeymoon in Mexico he meets the ONE! After a million jokes about and with sex they finally get together in the same initial situation.

The evening with Matt was really nice, even when the cocktail was watery!

.... dann ist Weihnachten! In genau 5 Wochen kommt der Weihnachtsmann und bringt viele schöne Geschenke!

Woher ich das so genau weiss? Na weil ich immer 5 Wochen vor Weihnachten Geburtstag hab und gestern war es wieder soweit.

Als Überraschung für meine Gäste hab ich eine offene Hütte im Wald gemietet und ein riesengrosses Feuer angezündet ( ok, Ben hat das Feuer gelegt ;) ). Mit einem heissen Punsch und feinen Prix Garantie Würstchen war auch die eisige Minusgradkälte zu ertragen. Es war ein richtig gemütlicher Abend und ich hoffe er hat auch meinen Gästen gefallen.

Hier nochmal allen ein grosses Dankeschön für die lieben Grüsse, Anrufe, SMSn, Geschenke und Mails.

Berlin ist immer eine Reise wert!

Gestern hab ich gegen 20.30 Uhr mal wieder einen Berlinbesucher am Flughafen abgegeben. Die letzten Tage mit Melanie hier in Berlin hab ich sehr genossen und wir haben viel erlebt und angeschaut. Vom Fernsehturm, über eine Trabbi Fahrt, den Reichstag und das Brandenburger Tor, das Museum "Haus am Checkpoint Charlie" und das DDR Museum ging unsere Erkundungstour vorbei an Currywurst Ständen, KaDeWe Schnitzeln und Popcorn Tüten bis nach Sachsenhausen, wo wir bei eisigem Wind und Regen das Konzentrationslager angeschaut haben. Dieser Eindrückliche Tag beendete für Melanie 3 Tage Berlin intensiv und war für uns beide eine gute Gelegenheit die deutsche Geschichte Revue passieren zu lassen. Der unvorstellbare Wahnsinn der in solchen Camps herrschte, von dem man aber nicht mit Sicherheit sagen kann ob er einen nicht genauso eingeschlossen hätte, wie viele zur damaliegen Zeit.

Für alle die sich nähere Informationen aus dem Netz ziehen möchten hab ich die einzelnen Sights mit einem Link unterlegt! Natürlich haben wir noch mehr gesehen und erklettert und erforscht, aber ihr sollt ja selbst mal schauen kommen.

... so sang einst Marlene Dietrich in einem bekannten Chanson. Ich dagegen hab natürlich deutlich mehr in Berlin! Jede Menge Familie, nen Kasten voller Klamotten und einen Stapel GEZ Rechnungen. Um die soll es hier auch mal gehen. Die GEZ ist die deutsche Gebühren Einzugs Zentrale und die will jedem treuen deutschen Bundesbürger Geld für den Radio und TV Empfang abknöpfen. Das ist ja ansich gut und schön, wenn sie nicht das viele Geld für Rechungen, Mahnungen und Drohungen verplempern würden, deren Empfänger seit 7 Jahren offiziell in Deutschland abgemeldet sind. Was auch immer wieder interessant ist : Die Briefe scheinen einen Rhythmus zu haben! Erst wird man freundlich gebeten seine Gebühren zu zahlen, danach kommt eine Ermahnung, gefolgt von einer Mahnung und der Androhung von rechtlichen Schritten bis zum Gerichtsvollzieher. Danach folgt eine Weile garnichts, bis der Briefreigen von vorn beginnt. Telefonische, faxische und schriftliche Rückmeldungen mit den Verweisen auf: abgemeldet, ausgewandert, Gebührenzahler in der Schweiz, etc. brachten leider bis jetzt keine Erfolge. Meine Hoffnung ist ja das der angekündigte Gerichtsvollzieher mal kommt und ich dann grad in Berlin bin um ihm Grüezi zu sagen. Und das wird dann nicht mehr sehr freundlich sein.
By the way, auch mein Bruder erhält seit kurzem Post von der GEZ....

I got my 3 months holiday for next year and so I will head to Adelaide for a 3 month Cambridge Advanced course. There I will get my english pushed to the limit and do an IELTS test to get my fu***** 7 points in writting!
And best of all, I will stay at Tells house and enyoj the conviniences of a friends home.
Also I got a flightreservation for a good and cheap flight with Lufthansa and Quantas, what means I also get flightmiles!
